Retro Kits in the Store

Replica tops have always been pricey for what they are. £40 is probably about, or even just under par these days for adult sizes.

All 4 retro kits now showing “out of stock”.

That’s a trifle unfair in my opinion. No, it’s not great that they’re out of stock, but Manchester United and Liverpool are in a different cosmos to Walsall. They can - and probably do - afford to have warehouses full of enough replica shirts to clothe everyone in the country. If it came out that we had over ordered and had boxes of unsold shirts gathering dust, they’d get pelters for that too.

It’s not good that they literally put these online last night and have flooded social media as well as emailing fans saying to buy online or go to the shop…. to then sell out by the next morning.

Seems the interest has seriously been underestimated if they’re not going to order more. :man_shrugging:

I take Roger Hayward’s message as pertaining to the current home kit, not these retro ones.

And this has been posted 15 mins ago…

They’ve paused on new orders so they can catch up with what has been ordered already

The online shop currently shows all 4 retro kits as “out of stock”

Yes. What I’m saying is that I think he’s on about the current home kit, which didn’t just go on sale last night. My original post was more about the mention of Premier League clubs. Can’t lay that at the club’s door, whatever mistakes they may or may not have made.

Given we’re only 3 months into a 9 month season and it’s pre-Xmas I don’t see why they would allow us to run out is stock of the home kit and refuse to order more. :man_shrugging:

Are they OOS online but available in store though?

May be incorrect but the Errea deal has now expired so maybe they are less accomodating with orders etc.

In the absence of a record of sales figures, all we can do is speculate. My first thought is that it’s not economical to order the 200 minimum for what may be a handful of orders.

I would guess that the focus is for the ‘Walsall market’, not the ‘Christmas market’. That means having stock when shirts are first released is more important than having them for Christmas.

Of course, that itself doesn’t fit with the retro kits going out of stock, but it could perchance have been a small order to test the waters… or even generate hype and demand for when stock is replenished.

What’s the point in releasing something we can’t even buy?
how very Walsall all words and promises but no

Don’t always take things on face value. One method to increase the desirability of a product is to make it (appear to be) unobtainable, and one method to achieve that is to get everyone interested, but suddenly ‘run out’ of them. When they do appear again on the shelves, it will be in people’s minds, “they went out of stock fast last time, I’d better get one now!”

I may be giving them too much credit - but it’s a proven method.

Are you connected to the merchandise side of Walsall Fc ?

I called the club shop and they said that they aren’t out of stock. They have had a lot of interest with 100+ sales as soon as they went live so they have had to shut the page down so that they can keep up with the orders.

She reassured me that there is plenty of stock left for all shirts and sizes and they will be going live again on the website soon. If anyone is free today, I would recommend driving down to the club shop. I have just been down to pick up a few and they had all sizes available in all four shirts.

Nah. I certainly ain’t a happy clapper either. I just think a wider perspective is needed for anyone who genuinely wants to understand the reasons for why things happen the way they do. If it’s just about getting a kick out of knocking the club though, all the perspective in the world won’t help!

Surely the system can handle multiples of orders and hold them in place rather than block them?
