Rico Henry improving all the time

One of those players who looked a bit special when we first saw him. I thought we might lose him before he’d even played ten games for us.
I’m glad he’s doing well, has overcome a couple of injury set backs. Onwards and upwards, and can someone send Southgate a link to Google Maps and tell him the post code for where Brentford play their games.

He knows where it is alright - trouble is, when he goes there he tends to be watching “his” boys. So if he’d have been there yesterday he’d have been watching McGuire, Rashford, Sancho and Shaw. The likes of Mee, Rico and Toney reduced to a supporting cast who’s names pass him by.

No shit. Well deserved a call up

Southgates called up players from the likes Brighton, Bournemouth, Burnley & Southampton

Although as an England Fan I’d choose a player involved in the Champions League over one whose not that’s his logic sometimes

I think Rico has questions over his defensive ability - like Trent

If England continue to play 3 centre backs Rico would flourish in a lwb role where his weaker defensive abilities would matter less and his pace and attacking drive would shine.
Not sure how he’d fit as a lb In a back 4 at the highest level x

His chances could be improved given that the current regulars are both out of form and out of the first team at their respective clubs. Saying that though, Trippier will probably be picked and shoehorned in

I think Southgate would have already called Rico up if he thought there weren’t better LB/LWB’s in the country. Unfortunately for Henry, there are.

Yep, Tripper is a top Right…I mean Left back.

With Chillwell fit again he probably won’t get a look in over the 7 right backs he will also pick.

Rico not in squad.
Harry Maguire in again - Southgate must owe him a lot of money.

Chilwell and Shaw selected after hardly playing so far this season. Suppose at least he’s been ignored for actual left-backs this time.

Slabhead called up again. Ridiculous.

Agree that Henry should be in squad. Incidentally Bennett reminds me a little of Henry with his all action play. Cambridge have a real gem on their hands.

Agreed. And if he carries on playing like he is, soon to be off their hands, I reckon.

Recalled in January methinks and then sold for a few million.

He’ll be 21 in a few weeks time, Rico went to Brentford at 19. I think Bennett is a really good player and we’d be a worse team without him, but is he better than Jason McCarthy was a few seasons ago?
To me he doesn’t yet (and we’ve only seen him a few times) look anywhere near to how Rico looked when he was younger and in a higher division, although players do develop at different ages of course.
I can’t see him spending much of his career at this level though.

If it turns out I’m hopelessly wrong I shall claim I knew he was destined for greatness all along and was trying to dampen interest so that we could keep him for longer.

I agree that he is a little behind Henry in development but he looks a tremendous prospect to me. I may be wrong . I often am but I am glad he is here.
