I didn’t realise the Royal box was that big

Yep. I think we’ve the best team in the league. It doesn’t lie at this stage.

We’ve also a good manager and coaching team.

Within that we have players who will cut it at league one and some who will struggle. But let’s get there first and all give it our all at every game.

I think there’s a difference between debating the strengths and weaknesses of a professional footballer and propagating hatred. Lots of room on here for the former but none for the latter.

As I said, I’ll stick with my assessment, thanks :+1:t3:

Plus I think you know I was talking about people being critical no matter what, the colloquial term for “haters”, rather than people propagating actual hatred, but I get why you’d want to paint it that way.

Out of interest - how would you place Liam in a POTS debate?

I’d go 5th in my top ten.

Lowe
Stirk
Matt
Barrett
Gordon
Williams
Jellis
Allen
Lakin
Okagbue

Williams, Stirk, Gordon, Matt, Jellis would be top 5 in that order for me.

To have him below Barratt … just puzzled to be honest. He’s been good, sometimes, but nowhere near as effective as Gordon on the other side.

Obviously Lowe had a big impact, but you can’t be calling a loanee who only stuck around for half of it player of the season.

Williams just edges it because I think he’s been phenomenal, and playing without the ball, we’ve needed a wall defensively. To this point that’s what he’s been, plus surprisingly good on the ball, plus surprisingly a goal threat.

This kind of prose proves that private education wasn’t wasted on m’Lord.
Us peasants are truly spoiled to be in the presence of an intellectual.

Without raking over it all, I just think Barrett’s assist contribution edges it though Liam has scored three versus Barrett’s nil. Also think Barrett is more solid defensively. We’re very rarely overloaded down his side.

My top ten will have moved around quite a lot. Jellis would have been second in November.

And yes, hopefully Lowe’s contribution will fade as the season goes on but we did once give a POTS to a January loanee (Padula) so guess it’s not unimaginable.

I think that Liam Gordon is a cracking player and there is more to come from him.

Hmm.

I think that’s slightly different. At least he finished the season, didn’t really have a choice in missing the first half of it (not saying Lowe had a choice not to go back). I think coming in and finishing the job is different to only starting it.

Hmm. That really should be two sentences. And what does" literally agog" mean? Is it possible to be " figuratively agog?" Probably a fairly minor public school- or Hydesville.

On the first Salford goal why is nobody covering Gordon when he makes his run up front? their player had acres of space to run into and get the cross in. Barrett also ambling back on the other side.

On the extended highlights after Johnsons first goal it looks like he’s shouting ‘EFF OFF…EFF OFF’ to the bench, he does not look happy at all.

Gino Padula (‘… he’s my baby’) was stunning that year - and he didn’t even play the whole season!

For what it’s worth, here’s my pennorth (about what it’s worth )
I could only follow the game very sporadically due to other duties. Saw 0 - 2 and assumed the worst so was delighted to see 2 - 2 as the result. UTSers seem to think we should have won but it was a relief to get that final score.
I did watch Fleetwonk - and we should have won. I watched Peterborough and we should have won that, too. In fact the only game we just lost, end of, second best, in the recent and not-so-recent past was Bradford. That was our “one of those days”. In spite of our fabulous and well deserved lofty position, I have been a bit concerned all season at how many goal attempts we have often needed to get the goals to beat the opposition. Obviously, while we were beating the opposition, it didn’t matter. While we had the MattLowe nexus, we did just that. And you can’t lose TWO players who, between them, have been responsible for over 30 goals and assists only HALF WAY THROUGH THE SEASON without some serious disruption. In fact, we ain’t done too bad without them, in point of fact (Bratfud aside) with an incredibly young team which can only get better, in physicality as well as skill and nous.
I remain optimistic that we will have a good shot at being Champions, come the last few days of this truly remarkable season.
But now the conundrum: DJ, of course. I’ve been whining about giving him more game time all seasonStretch got it slightly wrong (only slightly): if his own figures are correct, DJ’s record is 4 goals every 3 games (equivalent). To be fair, Stretch did say it was more or less one a game, so he was dead right . And it’s a phenomenal strike rate. So why does he never start? It seems perverse. Lacking any other information, it IS perverse.
Now, a usually reliable (and knowledgeable) expert source (who shall remain anonymous) has hinted to me that, last season, a certain palyer (who shall remain nameless) was, er, a little disruptive in the dressing room. Probably nothing in it as a) my source is an inveterate liar b) my source’s main pleasure in life is taking the piss out of me and c) my source is a perverse contrarian. But… smoke and fire? Body language information (and amateur lip readers) suggest there might be something in it. I don’t know. Do you?
I probably shouldn’t have thrown this into the mix, but I couldn’t resist passing on my turd of needlessly contentious speculative information.
Does anyone else have any genuine inside information?

Allen jumped into try and get an interception. He was late by quite a bit.

Matt pots for me as I don’t like Having loans as pots
The last few games shows whh Matt is our most vital player

Very difficult to choose, which shows just how good we have been, in recent years it has been difficult to choose because no one really stood out.

In our house, my oldest lad agrees with you, Jamille Matt, can’t argue, he has been superb.

My youngest thinks Stirk, again has been excellent and perhaps a bit of an unsung hero.

Personally, I will probably vote for Jellis. He is like having an extra midfielder the way he gets around the pitch and pops up in defensive and attacking positions. He had a small dip for game or two, but I thought he looked back to his best second half on Saturday.

I know you said you don’t like loan players getting it, but had Lowe stayed, I probably would have voted for him. There is no denying that he was the difference in a lot of the tight games.

Good times.

As I’ve pointed out previously, all of those (apart from Jamma) are also eligible for Young PotS too!

Yeah, it’s crazy. Taylor Allen and Harry Williams would also be in the mix, again eligible for young pots.
