To be fair to Maher he is not in my opinion a LWB so it is perhaps unfair to judge him too harshly on tonight’s performance however I do agree that he needs a quality loan spell at the level below to boost his confidence and performance. I cannot see him playing in our midfield unless we get a good number of injuries.

That is true to be fair, but i also dont see how he fits in this side as we dont really play with a ten or wingers. He has bulked himself up granted but he is not getting in the centre of the pitch these days.

Good luck to him, and id love to see him come through our ranks more but i think his time is limited.

16 EPL kids’ teams included in the 1st round, only 1 (Villa) has made it to the 2nd. So what is the point of them?

How come Lowe isn’t in the England elite squad alongside Simkin? I know he played for the U19’s but he has grown beyond recognition over the past four months.

Tonight was win number 14 of the season, from 21 games.

Took us until the 20th February last season to reach win number 14.

Ermm okay :man_shrugging:t2:

That level is weird to be honest, often squads are full of players who havent played at senior level. I dont get it either.

More about if your face fits i think.

Simkin has improved but I don’t think he is better than hornbey and he is our player so he deserves a go and tbf he is taller than simkin which helps

That’s a very good point.

I would also be amazed if he isn’t on the radar of some of the cuter recruiting Premier league clubs, likes of Brighton/Brentford/Bournemouth etc. Given his age, temperament and what he’s shown on the pitch if I was one of them I’d be taking a punt at whatever Stoke couldn’t afford to turn down, which would likely be chicken feed in their terms. He’s only 19 just turned. Fabulous player, other than just further working on his finishing I can’t see what he hasn’t got already.

Does that mean that as a product of the Stoke youth setup any premier league side could offer some derisory compensation and give the player a lucrative offer he can’t refuse?

Good to see one of the coaches giving the interview

Not just Lowe that will be attracting attention either, overheard someone tonight mention that Championship clubs are looking at Jellis.

Notts county fan I know was convinced they a deal was done in January and he chose Walsall at the last second

No, he will have a professional contract now, so Stoke would have to accept any bid made for him.
