The Belt and Braces Approach

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! DD has been great for us no doubt about it. However we can’t run the risk of disrupting this team, and more importantly they’ve earned their starting positions.

There will be suspensions and injuries from now until the end of the season, and that’s when DD should get the nod again if this is the case.

The balance Allen and Adegboyega have provided us cannot be understated. Athletic and good on the ball, which seems to be getting better performances out of LG and TK as a result. We were definitely a lot more ponderous on the ball with PF and DD.

Dave is growing in confidence game by game and is thriving being the leader!

People are confusing what they think I’m saying I would do and what will happen.

The club captain will return when fit. No matter what. Every time.

Like it or not, rightly so.

Yes he’s captain but he can still be a leader off the pitch and in the dressing room. It doesn’t set a great message if a player can walk straight back into a team when they’re doing so well.

Might be different if we were flying prior to DD getting injured but that wasn’t the case and never have we had this kind of form with DD in the team.

Why is it rightly so?

Not saying it won’t happen, but it shouldn’t as long as those who are currently starting are in good form. Surely it’s bad management to drop form players for experience/bigger name/favourites/on paper ability?

Can’t see it myself. I reckon DD would not want to cause an upset while ever the current lot are getting the job done. He’ll be happy to be back up if we keep winning

If we where to pick him and we maybe lose the Sadler out thread would go off the scale

What about Dec/New Year? League form WWLWWW, pretty similar.

:rofl: that doesn’t count cos it’s out the memory bank now

DD is club captain. That’s because he’s a leader on and off the pitch, highly respected among the group and highly respected by opposition.

When he’s fit he’ll play.

The players know he’ll come in and no one will feel anything wrong with it.

Yeah you have a point. Still not 5 wins on the spin and 6 unbeaten though. I actually think DD coming in for Dave wouldn’t be as disruptive as swapping Allen or Adegboyega for someone else.

Nobody is bigger than Walsall FC and Daniels is mature enough I feel to understand this and shouldn’t expect to walk back into the team.

If a defender gets suspended or picks up a knock or even has a loss in form, then DD should come back in. If he plays well then by all means keep him in the team.

But until then, that back 3/5 stays put in my opinion.

Daniels should only come back in if he can improve the team.
At the moment that is questionable.

State your case.

You seem to have gone completely bonkers. For months lecturing people about players in form must keep the shirt now telling us all that an unfit, under performing players comes straight back in just because he’s the club captain.

Completely mad :joy::joy::joy:

Ive been in football, a long time and when your club captains fit, he plays.

He definitely doesn’t not claim his place back in favour of 20 year old loanees or a 23 yr old acknowledged squad utility player.

Like it or not, and people can cry over it all they like….DD will play when he’s fit.

And I’ll call it now….before anyone says I’m wrong, if he appears on the bench then it’s because it’s for morale reasons and he’s not fit other than for an emergency……

The larger sample size you take of a player the more accurate a guide it’ll be as to their abilities….DD is proven.

Also, as I said last week some time, by the time he’s fit we’ll have lost a game or two, could easily be 8th or below and most likely one or more of the back 3 will have dropped a clanger and some will be screaming for his return!

Really? Did I?

Bonkers. Completely bonkers. Sadler finally hits a winning formula with the defence and our resident expert says we must dismantle it to bring back a player who is not having a good season.

God help us!!!. That’s the play offs gone then and a return of the shambolic defending and early goals.

No offence but From the responses you are getting I think alot of people view your analogy as completely mad!!!

You have a weird idea on what an analogy is tbh.

There’s a difference between coming back in when fit and then coming in if the team have hit a bit of bad form.

If it’s the latter then by all means look at getting DD back involved to rekindle the form.

No problem with dd coming in if the others hit bad form. However he’s saying that form goes out the window and players return regardless!!!

It won’t matter.

When your club captains fit he plays.

All I was saying is the conversation is likely to be obsolete anyway and most on here will be desperate for his return and will have completely forgotten why or what they got carried away with….
