I think he’s alright as a player… like many have said pretty much a mid- table player. I also agree that he and Comley shouldn’t be on the pitch together. I think they should be in direct competition and possibly have their games split in an alternating 60/30 mins and see which one wants it the most or fits/plays better

This has already started, so hopefully will continue. Hasn’t yet made us any more cohesive as a midfield unit though, unfortunately.
I neither hate him or love him. He is an average division 4 footballer.
He try’s hard and is a good professional, so that’s a good reflection on him. And he’s a Saddler through and through and leads by example.
If you put someone really dynamic next to him, we could potentially get promoted.
But to get promoted, I think we’d need to replace him too. He’s a good squad player though and can fill in at right back and is better at right back than White.
You can’t fault his commitment and effort and he has those in abundance to make up for his short comings in other areas of his game.
I get others reasons for not wanting him in the team, but until we sign players of better quality, then he stays in. If players of better quality are signed and he then loses his place in the team, so be it. From a sentimental point of view it will be sad, but nothing is forever.
What I don’t get and never have is how some posters totally lambast him.

At present our ability to attract ‘better’ players appears to be about as good as my winning the Lottery. We are, and are likely to remain, a lower mid table League 2 club until we make the necessary root and branch changes to the club. Injuries have found Flynn out in my view as he seems unable to get a tune out of the players available for selection. Constant tinkering and defence in depth had, I hoped, been consigned to history after our opening day win. So, Kinsella remains likely to play given all that. Whether he should seems academic until we sign ‘better’ players.

Wonder what peoples view would be if Kinsella wasn’t with us and we signed him in pre-season from another mid to lower league two club? Just another way of viewing the debate from another angle.

A midfielder who can’t dribble, assist, score goals and struggles to pass forward. This will always put pressure on the rest of the team to make up for these shortcomings. But still our best player by far last season which says it all.
But he doesn’t pick himself. Managers pick him for a reason.

One of those who’ll always give 100% so can’t disrespect that and for some of the fanbase that’s all that matters.
In last decade alone though there’s probably been close to 10 players better in the two positions he’s primarily played in central midfield at 6 and 8. And many of them played a division higher against many former premier league teams.
I think it’s best for both parties if he moves on end of the season for a fresh challenge as I tend to side on @Thanatos POV.
Perhaps he should’ve just been left to get on with things as an RB which is where he was still playing when Keates took over.
One thing I would say is how come these managers who come in don’t ever make him captain given his attitude is clearly fine behind the scenes? Unless he just dosen’t want the responsibility.
Kinsella is well worth his place and much of the criticism seems to me to be because he is not doing stuff he is not there to do. He is not really a holding midfielder, nor a creative one, he is a player who wins the ball and covers for other players. Look at yesterday’s game and see how often he wins the ball and how often he is there to help if something goes wrong. He’s the sort of player that you miss when he is not there.
Wilkinson, in the commentary, revealed that, before he joined us, he hated to play against Kinsella. I’m sure lotsa of other players feel the same. And as long as you want what he gives, he is capable of playing in League 1.

I’m sorry but he is nowhere near league 1 standard. Not even close! You need more about you to compete in league one.

Well, I’ve read some things, but this… game of opinions and all that I suppose 
I personally like Kinsella and think he deserves his place in the team. Kinsella has a job to do and I think he does it well.
He’s not there to set up attacks, score goals, dominate play. He’s there to stop the opposition dominating play, be a nuisance, and as a player who is top of the stats for tackles and interceptions then I’d say if anything he’s one of the few actually doing his job.

Can anyone care to explain why clubs in league one and above aren’t queuing up to sign him?
Any player we have had that’s got potential - moves on and is sold.
He’s an average L2 footballer - that’s exactly where he is playing now.
His time in L1 was spent in a struggling side that ultimately got relegated.
Have we ever had a Walsall 11 with Kinsella in midfield that has been a top side (in any division?)… no.
I don’t think it’s outrageous to suggest that we need better players in key positions (like midfield and up front) in order to compete and get out of this awful league.

He’s played 69 times in league one, 116 times in league two - and since his breakthrough we’ve been on a constant decline.
Just because someone has played at a level it doesn’t make them good enough to play there. That’s literally evident in our current squad. Since he’s been a regular we’ve been shit. Again - there are many reasons bigger than Kinsella for our decline, but he has been ever present.
To suggest he’s good enough for league one is ludicrous. He’s too limited.
I nearly spat my marmite sandwich out when I read that he was good enough for league one.
