I’d wait until Johnson joins Colchester, then agree a deal with Notts Forest to sign Will Swan and I’d do it just to spite Mansfield.

I can see it now in the Mansfield boardroom:

Liam Kinsella is fine if you want to be a mid table side L2 side - and maybe that’s what we need to be this season after this start… but if we want to progress and get promoted

we have never finished in the top half of any league with him in midfield. We have terrible possession stats (which correlates with league position). Why hasn’t a better side picked him up? There is no evidence therefore of him being able to play in a side in the top 7.

If DJ does end up going elsewhere, the trouble is other clubs will know we are after a replacement. The longer it goes on, the more desperate we will become of getting something over the line. He needs to be replaced properly and if we have any ambitions of going up this season we need another striker as well as that Williams and Douglas Taylor won’t do.They are alright if we are desperate or for 20 minutes here and there
