The Official Transfer Rumours Thread 2019 summer edition

100k a year is not really excessive for a professional footballer.

Reckon theres something cryptic in this, as in we’re close to a signing?

seen us linked to player from canada online today think he is the same nationality as sawyers.

Looks like we are signing a meat head who walks around in budgie smugglers thinking he’s rock hard and does nothing but talk crap then.

Not the 1st time DC has admitted he made a wrong team selection regarding James Clarke. Against Macclesfield he substituted Facey and afterwards said he should have subbed Clarke.

Exactly DC needs to play players who deserve the shirt and not play Clarke at full back which we can all see is not a position that suits him.Centre half is what suits him and if his form is not up to scratch we have jules who more than deserving of his chance in his favoured position.

With hardy being out the team could he have gone? Wasn’t his contract 6 months aswell with kiersely and mcdonald?

You would think that with all his experience and all those badges he would learn from his already made mistakes :unamused:

Yeah this was a glaringly obvious error that’s the problem. I’m all for him admitting mistakes but that one Saturday shouldn’t have been made. Needs to stop shoehorning his favourites in.

Thumbing in a softie as they say.

Didn’t Keates want to sign him in the summer of 2018 but Andrade chose Lincoln instead? He would have been a good signing then and now!

I doubt that Cook is a positive influence at the club - there’s just something about him that exudes trouble. I wonder how long it will be before he’s seen arguing with Mansfield fans. I wouldn’t want him back.

He won’t be the first or last manager to show loyalty to a football player who served him well at a previous club.

He ain’t no full back that’s for sure but I’m surprised by all the negativity about him as CB.

Sadler seems to have improved a bit since that ridiculous red card at Oldham but he is 34 and not a long term option. People seem to be raving about Dan Scarr but everytime I watch him he’s always full of mistakes and his passing is really non league standard. Ultimately most CBs at this level have a mistake in them when pressured like we saw on Saturday.

If everyone was fit I’d like to see a back 4 of:

Facey…Clarke…Jules…Pring for rest of the season. Two attacking FBs and think Clarke-Jules would gel.

Then infront middle trio of Sinclair-Guthrie-Bates. And upfront Wes-Lavs and a new signing.

If you could actually get that combination all fit for even five games then it wouldn’t be just results but the team would actually be decent to watch and something to build on for next season.

Correct

Sorry, this is nonsense.

Firstly, £50k here or there won’t buy the freehold.

Secondly, we need to use the January window to bring in and settle players down. We can’t keep rebuilding every single fricking summer, then arriving in January in mid-table, thinking “oh well, thats another season written off”.

We are in a good position to have a tilt at the play offs this season - we could get promoted if we signed some quality (like other clubs are doing).

We would need to average over 2 points per game to reach the playoffs and if by some miracle we did achieve that and win the play offs the squad would need to be pretty much overhauled in the summer anyway. Whilst I agree £50k does not buy the freehold, it will help and short of a Rico windfall this is going to be a long drawn out process.

I admire your optimism but I just think that chucking money away on some loan signings (that won’t be DC’s 1st or 2nd choices) is futile when we are this far adrift. We are not just lacking in points but also in quality compared to the teams that currently sit at the top of table. Personally I think DC should continue to try and develop some of our young players and then during the summer off load the dead wood and add 2-3 quality signings. That should mean that we are much better placed to aim for winning the league in 20/21. Going up now would be a lot like Villa this year, an enjoyable ride but they have ended up trying to compete in the Premier League with a lot of Championship level players.
