The Official Transfer Rumours Thread 2019 summer edition

I suspect the winger was Marshall, who chose Northampton instead, which may have had something to do with Clarke’s comments about us not being able to compete financially with the top teams in this league.

He also said wages being a problem which is really starting to piss me off as we really should be able to compete in this shit league with our decent fan base and transfer fees received, commercial revenue etc compared to other clubs.:frowning:

Trouble is he said that on about August the 20th also.

Too honest sometimes is Mr DC

True I think the recruitment has been better this window though don’t you Nolan looks good Sheron has started promisingly

It isn’t a massive fall. Pomlett is mister innocent trying his best against all odds, the evil former owner, the might of Crewe and Cheltenham’s budget, the horrible 5k Walsall fans that simply refuse to turn up to watch ■■■■. Coming after Bonser his biggest problem should be what to do with his halo when washing his hair.

I actually like the signings this window. At the moment we’re about two quality ones short, just as we were in august, and that’s why we’re 13th and not challenging for the play-offs.

Whilst I appreciate him getting rid of the leech…To me if Pomlett was such a good business man he would have capitalised on the new era and pushed the boat out this season. If it didn’t work out in this poor league (as we have all seen ) Then make the cut backs next season. Because no ambition and progress will mean lower gates next year obviously.

It will undoubtedly be harder next year. Bolton plus at least 2, possibly 4 or this year’s moneybags failures still here, no “new regime” bounce. We better hope Alfie Bates et al suddenly cease to be cotton-wool balled youngsters and become hardened league two week in week out merchants. Personally I think we’ve got the makings of a very good league two team, I just have doubts that our manager knows what he’s doing, or that our chairman has a pot to ■■■■ in.

That comment in his interview about competing with the top 10, financially, really annoyed/depressed me. Crewe, Exeter and Cheltenham are top 6 FFS!!! If we continue to struggle in this poor division, then our crowds will be a lot lower next season. That will give the club even more justification to plead poverty.

Yes and an even worse atmosphere for the players to play in. Just think it could have been so different with a bit of investment in the team in a time of BONSER gone.

The ones most other teams around us have made?
When are we going to get that £7 million for Scarr from the club owned by Stevie Wonder after he ‘read’ the report on his abilities?
Hate to see how successful Shrewsbury have become, especially after tonight’s draw against Liverpool’s 3rd team. Everything about them smacks of forward thinking…Safe standing, reasonably good new ground…good players…cash from the replay, cash from the Tele…and great thinking re ‘the best seats in the ground’ Can we swop Boards please?
Back on subject, I hope all the nonsense above was not about that little runt from Carlisle with the wrong shorts and no shin pads…surely please, with him in the dressing room we will get to think Cookie was a good sociable lad!

I personally don’t care about the freehold at the moment ( it’s just a dream and maybe an excuse for not investing in the team ). Just want to get out of this hell hole .

Wonder what the board think about these comments every time we lose a game? Under Bonser he’d have been gone the first time he tried to deflect blame towards the lack of money the owner has! Not that I’m suggesting that should happen at all but I doubt it goes down well at all!

I think that’s just the way Clarke is mate he’s very open and honest I’ll give him that and I’ve been sceptical all season about our budget if people have seen my posts they’ll know that now it seems others are starting to see it as well I actually like Pomlett as a bloke but I’d have liked to have seen the euphoria at the start of the season built on and like others have said what are the gates going to be like next season if we continue the way we are now? 3-3500? It’s a shame because there’s a real opportunity or was to do something this season let’s be honest this is a very poor league and if we can’t compete with some of these clubs down here I worry.

Exactly mate that’s why I can’t help but like the bloke.

Personally I like the way the club is heading, some good youngsters coming through the ranks and what looks like a forward thinking youth team boss in llera. The squad starting to take shape with two exciting prospects on the wings. And like clarke as said he going to weed out the players not up too the task and replace them, we are seeing Gordon flourish under clarke, we have an honest hard working squad of players.

We have finally got a chairman that is listening to us. And as a plan to give us a club to be proud of, yeah its 6 months in and we ain’t top of league and spending ridiculous amounts of money like Mansfield who are 6 points behind us by the way. But I can see improvement, if we would have won both the Carlisle games which we should of as we dominated both games, clarke cant take the blame for missed chances and a sending off, there wouldn’t be any if this talk of clarke and pomlett failing.

I think we have a squad of players more than capable of competing in this league add the odd tweak each transfer window, we will soon be back in league 1.

I have liked his honest talking in interview, and I for one, have been interested in his comments and refreshing honesty since he came in. I can even cope with his ‘God-like’ Bristol Rovers ramblings, but Saturday’s ‘finances’ comments really put a dampner on everything since LP took over.
We are in League 2 FFS. The ‘being unable to compete with Crewe, Newport and Cheltenham’ don’t wash with us. His team selections are the problem. Constant changing and sticking with out of form players is a major problem, along with an inability to identify where we are weak, i.e attacking midfield, players comfortable in possession etc. I am happy for DC to try and find the formula until the end of the season, but if we don’t make a ‘real’ effort on promotion next season, then DC/LP will deserve all the stick which will come their way!

Have to disagree Neil we have a team competing in this league yes . But not competing at the top as we should be . And next season will see lower gates and an excuse from Pomlett on lower budget. when we are averaging 3-3500 gates . When we need 5000 without any investment. Most fans are getting frustrated and that is how I see it and rightly so.
