The Official Transfer Rumours Thread 2019 summer edition

We’ve been averaging poor gates for years, peoples excuse for not turning up previous was because bonser was at the helm, now bonsers gone, its pomletts fault, surely if pomletts going to buy the freehold which 99% of our fans wanted start of the season, we cant go splashing the cash plus it doesn’t guarantee you success just an hefty wage bill

I do think pomlett as shot himself in the foot by not revealing the exact details of the purchase, but has he said it in constant meetings with his lawyers about it, so something must be happening, what we just dont know

Like I said before it was the biggest opportunity in the last 30 years to build the fan base and get people on side .
He did this with me and so many others but he has not delivered on a big opportunity and sadly I can see that extra support we have had this season coming down significantly to 3k at home next season and where does that leave us

I hear what your saying but its results that get fans through doors, take mansfield they have really push the boat out this season I’d suspect probably the top two budgets in the league there average attendance is down around 400 on last season,

Morecambe is now a must win for me the two worst sides I’ve seen back to back for us.

Loving that Exile.

Blue Sky Mine next time?

Can see this ‘must win’ game also coming crashing down to earth, they are improving and we are going backwards again, still unable to put the ball in the net.
Where are the signings that DC waffled on about, and more importantly what about the supposed removal of all those underperformers that he was going to ‘weed out’ in January?
Why does he keep playing Adebayo, who couldn’t score in a brothel, and the slow moving old timers that gift the opposition goals all the time, whilst continuously tinkering with the team again and again.

I personally don’t see it as a must win I see what your saying but we don’t need to win it to stay in the football league which is what I’d call a must win.As @Worsul4eva just said these have improved lately and so will other teams below us they ain’t going to stay on 20 odd points all season that’s a fact so for me it’s crucial we don’t have another October style run of results because we could quite easily have a must win game before we know it so it’s crucial we change our fortunes but not must win for me.

I think the only reason he hasnt got rid of any players is just in case he cant sign anymore. Can you imagine if we get rid of a few players then sign no one the squad would be way to small.

Put the .S. on plan so it rymes and you have your self a new walsall chant mate .were liverpool sing never walk alone before a match we could sing this masterpiece lol

What’s it must win for? We’re 13th. If we lose we probably drop to 14th. If we win we probably go 12th. What’s so ‘must win’ about it? I get that we should be winning but we’re not going to be in ‘must win’ territory all season now. We’re mid table and that’s exactly where we’ll stay for the rest of the season.

Not having a go, but some perceptions are awry. Not saying they aren’t possible to come to pass but we’re nowhere near yet.

Going backwards - we are 6th in the form table (8 games) representing a seismic shift from October when we were in some difficulty, results and table wise.

We’re just above mid table in recent home results (last 4) and just below (last 8) - something which a number of fans found concerning - quite rightly. Improvement shown.
While we’ve experienced more losses of late, this comes on the back of a very positive run of form.

Goals scored has improved - if you take out a 3-2 win against Crawley in September, we either scored 1 or nothing prior to a 2-1 win vs Cambridge on Nov 16. We’ve scored in every game since Stevenage on 23rd Nov, with a much higher goals per game. This still leaves us 17th in the goals scored table, but improvements shown.

Goals against is reasonable. We appear to be able to carve a number of clean sheets, but have conceded 3 on a number of occasions - 4 times before Oct 12th, once after. We’re 16th in the goals against stat, and improving.

Individual players performances are open to subjectivity, and when Adebayo came on against Carlisle at home he improved the team and provided an important outlet. He doesn’t score enough, but there’s more to his game. Some will agree, some will differ - as with every individual player and performance.

Those are the stats, which can’t lie. Improvements shown. There’s more to football than stats, but I’d venture to suggest that performances have collectively improved.

I’m satisfied we’re going in the right direction. This doesn’t mean I’m ecstatic, neither does it mean there aren’t valid criticisms, or that there’s an ingrained culture of shutting down such critiques by happy-clappers or Clarke acolytes. Anyone going in the other direction would be equally challenged.

It’s just that analysis should be reasonable and rational. We’re here, we’re playing against teams that have little historical success and gravitas, some of which we’ll lose against. But we’re here on merit, and will finish where we deserve, over the season.

We’ve lost three times in the league in three months.

In that time, we’ve only failed to score in a league game just once, which was two months ago.

Where are the signings? We’ve made two with maybe one more coming in, I dont see that as a reason to worry.

Yet another overreaction from another fan who has his expectations far too high, we lose one game that we didn’t even play badly in and all the excuses come out.

I would hope DC and his team go into every match with a ‘Must Win’ attitude.

Fully agree, we are only getting out of the team what we have put into it.

Amazes me that fans still fail to see that.

With all due respect I don’t think other fans expectations are high I think yours are extremely low

Quote from DC in the E&S…
“Like you say, the fans have been excellent and they have been very understanding of where we are”.

He obviously hasn’t read the comments on UTS…:grinning:

Did the reporter say that to him? I’ve noticed that he says “Like you say” a lot in his interviews, when the interviewer hasn’t actually said it.
