I take it that you don’t rate him, then? I think he has been disappointing but he should have only been a back-up. But the piss-poor striker recruitment in the summer has meant that we had no choice but to play him so often. He’s been 5 or 6 out of 10 - compared to DJT who has been 4. He’s been better than both Matt and Stevens but there’s no way he should be here next season if we are even remotely serious about promotion.
Morning Star? Express and Star?
The sun?
You’d be better off with your Telescope, I mean Telegraph.
That’s very Daily Star
Surely a banable offence such a terrible slur on your impeccable character
A win at last! Hardly vintage stuff, but hopefully can kick start a decent end to the season and get some of the positive vibes back around the place. We didn’t do a lot of hoofing and hopefully it will stay that way.
Pleased for Wilkinson to score, but wonder what his ear-cupping celebration was all about?
Keep bloody coming then and we’ll get promoted
Agree. Hutchinson is clearly the best technician in the squad, he’s far from perfect, but we need players like that if we are going to ever escape this division. Hopefully he will kick-on a bit if he’s still around next season.
I seem to remember Flynn saying Hutchinson plays exactly how he is in life off the pitch which is very laid back.Which you can see when watching him play tbh.I’d go as far as saying he’s the best player we have at the club and whilst I know players can’t play fantastically well every week I’d like to see him turn his 3 good games in 7 into 5 good games in 7.
Oh, he’s clearly the most talented in the squad by a mile.
For me, the only consistent standout performers across the season are him, DJ and Daniels.
The rest have been just average L2 players.
Evans has been above average too I think.
I think his demeanour has changed over the past few weeks, he doesn’t seem bothered. He played the best pass in the game yesterday to Knowles and probably had one the second best chance of the game against Swindon because of a run he made but something seems off with him.
I agree his body language has changed
His footballing ability is not great, he’s a decent league 2 player nothing more for me.
Lots of work to do during the summer and it would be nice to get more signings right than wrong.I know not every signing you make is a success or even hits the ground running but we do seem to have a knack of bringing more guff than great into the club.
Hutchinson is the classic case of a player in his first proper season in ‘men’s football’. He no doubt has ability and has made a decent contribution with his assists and goals , but his consistency isn’t anywhere near where we need it to be.
The trouble is that there’s nobody in the squad that can play in that role, and I include Knowles. Hutch would really benefit from someone in the squad that he can both learn from, and be swapped out with when he’s having a bad run of form
Spot on. Though I’d prefer he had a mentor rather than being an understudy.
I’ve said it before it seems that a player who has 10 games in a row at 6/10 is better thought of than a player who has six 6s, a 7 and two 8s if they dare throw in a 5!!! He’s only inconsistent because we want to judge all his performances by what we perceive as his best ones.
The problem with that is fans perceive his best ones to be the ones he’s scored in, which means fans are going to think he’s poor and / or inconsistent every time he doesn’t!! Which means unless he gets a goal or an assist it’s a let down.
For me, some of his best games have been games where he’s received most criticism for being poor….but these are games where the emotion of us losing has led to a completely unbalanced perception of the game, and individual performances.
If there is inconsistency then I think it’s attributed largely to how we play and the lack of a plan, a pattern, or a style. That in itself leads to inconsistency because every game is a lottery as to how we’re gonna play and where he may or may not be able to pick the ball up…or where it just happens to drop. You could try and play the same way from game to game and get a completely different outcome.
As fans we always attribute consistency to players who visibly show the same hard working no frills all action performances each week. Kinsella, Knowles Bennet etc Their perceived success or failure each week isn’t based on any technical outcome just on the energy they show regardless of what they did with the ball.
Nailed it.
