W 2-0 vs Swindon Town (H) - Carabao Cup R1 - Tue 9th Aug, 7:45pm

I think we’ll have 4 or 5 changes tonight but i dont think it’ll weaken the team massively, and im looking forward to seeing some of the new signings that we havent had chance to have a good look at as yet.

Flynn has promised changes, but we also need to win, so nothing radical.

Evans,
Bennett, White, Daniels, Monthe, Knowles
Earing, Comlyn
Flynn Clarke
Abraham, Johnson

It is refreshing to be excited at the strength of choice we have in the more advanced positions.

Looking forward to seeing how Knowles fares, as he should get a start and either F. Clarke/Maher. I’d expect one of Comley/Kinsella to be rested and Abraham should also get a start.

I think the most interesting thing will be Flynn’s choice of formation. Will he stick with 3 CB’s or move to a back 4?

Is this being streamed tonight?

It isn’t. Not sure who mentioned it earlier, but apparently League Cup fixtures were only streamed when fans couldn’t attend :man_shrugging:

Looking forward to seeing the depth here, see how we can vary the side without losing too much. We are marginal favourites, but I can’t see it being that close given the relative transitions between the teams in the last 12 months.

Any idea on prices tonight mate?

is the upper not open?

£10/£5

Unfortunately not. I think that’s a mistake, and there will be a lot more there than the club were originally expecting.

Does anyone know when Riley is expected to be fit? I had almost forgotten about him with all the excitement,

As Rob said, £10 for adults and £5 concessions. They haven’t opened the middle and upper for tonight. Don’t usually for the less popular games.

Looking at the seating map, theres still well over 1k seats available and thats with only the lower and main stand open.

It will be interesting to see who MF starts in place of Hutchinson. I see you’ve gone for Clarke F but he was the one dropped from the bench on Saturday to make way for Knowles who actually did come on to do just that late on. But then it was Maher who did the same against Hartlepool - so pick one from 3 (assuming that Hutchinson is indeed rested). That’s of course presuming that he stays with 352 and doesn’t make a formation change.

You’ve got Abraham replacing Williams, but not DJT replacing DJ? If he’s making wholesale changes (as he intimates in the E&S article) then would expect all the previous non-starters to at least get on the pitch if they aren’t there from the get go - so I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t make that swap too. Not sure if he’ll do the same with Przybek and Evans - or rather I’d be happier if he didn’t (going on their respective pre-season showings) but have a sneaky feeling that he will.

The big question for me is whether it’s just a shuffle of the same pack so we’ll have all the first choices on the bench if needed, or if he’ll use the game to give the kids like Sawyers and Willock a bit of exposure to first team match days (definitely expect him to do that in the Papa John).

Anyone got an update on whether Riley will be fit enough for this game?

BTW There is also an article on the E&S about McKirdy being out due to his red card on Saturday. Looks very lazily lifted from the Swindon local rag as it is written from their point of view rather than ours - and makes no mention of us being without Taylor Allen for exactly the same reason.

Reece Devine not available for tonight, was looking forward to Timmy against him :pensive:

Yeah, but that’s without any walk up - I think our good start to the season, cheap prices and good weather will encourage a lot to pay on the night.

Anyway, I just massively prefer to sit upstairs!

I’ve taken the chance to sit near the dugouts.

Geeky I know, but I find it interesting to see what the coaching staff say to the players throughout the match.

I hope by using the bench he can get his best 11 on the park its our chance at playing a big club in next round.

We need the money from a good cup run, so winning is important.
I would expect the core of the team to remain, which is why I don’t think he’ll play Abraham and DJT.
Also, is Maher ready to start.

If we had an alternative left wing back, then I’d play Knowles at #10, but I’m not sure we have anyone else.
