W 2-1 vs Oldham Athletic (H) - League Two - Tue 15th March, 7:45pm

Expected a win and got it, but what an appointment Michael Flynn is turning out to be. I’ve said repeatedly my issues with the squad Taylor was given and the slightly different parameters he was working too, but full marks to the board for not being brought in by one win against Tranmere, and going out and getting a proven manager at this level who just talks sense. If we don’t improve dramatically and at least challenge next season we know it won’t be for lack of a good manager (although that’s not to say I expect us to, the rebuild was bigger than some anticipated this season, and there’s lot of work to do in the summer. The board still have to step up)

What a great game.
Hats off to Oldham who on that performance shouldn’t be bottom 2.
I think we just shaded the 1st half, but that Keiller-Dunn effort from the half way line was almost something special. I think it had Rushworth beaten.
2nd half we dominated apart from a couple of scary moments.
7 minutes of injury time was seriously life threatening under MT, but we really managed the game well.
Some top performances notably from Shade, Osadebe and Wilkinson.
A game we would have lost under Clarke, Dutton and MT.
Things are looking up!

Superb performance, lads really dug in second half Flynn era is off to a flyer. Stand out performers tonight. Shade Wilkinson Monthe Osadabe.

I thought Rodney showed some intelligent play linked up well with Wilkinson when he come on. Seen as though Rodney and Wilkinson are our contracted players strikers next season maybe worth giving them a run together try and build a partnership together.

Entertaining game and great result against a team playing for their lives.
Imo Oldham aren’t the worst side I’ve seen this season by a long shot and hope they survive at the expense of a non entity club like Stevenage.

9 games to play that we can now enjoy without any pressure.
Let’s get a top half finish and build for a real go at it next season.

3 times you had a dig at fans? Dont like it go f off and support albion, if not keep your utter dribble talk out this forum

Another good win. Oldham were better than a lot we have had here and I hope they stay up. Now I must apologise to Shade for some comments I made earlier in the season along the lines of he would never make a footballer. I rarely criticise individual players but I was getting very frustrated with his performances at that time.
What a difference a good Manager makes. If Flynn had been here from the start we would certainly have been challenging for the play offs even with this squad which has some key weaknesses. UTS

It’s just great to leave the ground happy after seeing us win.

I have no malice towards Matt Taylor, but a proven manager is proving what you can do with a little bit of know how and, one would say, a lack of stubborness.

I think I have a man crush on Flynn!

Just read the thread.
Agree with most of what’s been written. It was a decent match for div 4.
Thought we could we have got a third and made the last few minutes a little less nervous, but it didn’t matter in the end.
Oldham far from the worse side we’ve played this season.
Great to meet @RedandWhite :+1:

Maybe there would be more there if the season wasn’t over in March. That’s on the board and Flynn knows he’s been brought in to rectify it. Doubt he will be surprised, just like he won’t have been surprised by the 5,800 that were there Saturday.

To be fair , he had bought a match ticket.

He choose not too come then has 3 digs at the fans?

I for one think the fans was amazing when the players needed a little lift, players showed there appreciation at the end.

Why do you keep saying ‘audience’? :joy:

Also, nearly 4,000 home fans for a Tuesday night dead rubber game in League Two is not bad going at all. Makes your snipes at other supporters even more ridiculous when you couldn’t even be bothered to turn up…

Anyway, on to the game I thought it was a proper football match between two teams who wanted to get the ball down and attack. There were a couple of spells in each half where Oldham had the better of it, but overall it was probably a fair result.

It’s another game where you can clearly see the effort the players are putting in and when you combine that with the pieces of quality shown by Osadebe and Wilkinson, it’s a winning formula in League Two.

Let’s hope Oldham manage to stay up at the expense of Stevenage or Barrow.:crossed_fingers:

A proper game of football. 2 teams who wanted to attack, no elbowing or shirt pulling, no rolling around feigning injury, no mass mobbing of the referee at every disputed decision. Two sets of fans getting behind their team and a good referee who did his best to keep the game moving.
Total opposite to the Sutton game.
As others have said, good luck to Oldham- let’s hope they’re still in Div 2 next season.

What a difference a decent manager can have on a team .
So wished LP had pulled the trigger earlier on MT , with this momentum it would of been good to see how close we could of actually got to the play offs .
Nice to meet up with @Belphegor for a pint before the kick off , and then to find out he’s sitting 2 seats away from me :joy:
We may even become drinking partners next season now he’s having a season ticket , but none of that Belgium frothy stuff  :joy:
We even sung sexy football tonight which I haven’t heard for a very long time , long may it continue .

Give us a team fighting for promotion and we will top 5000 most home games based on numbers this season i think the support has been great considering we have been mostly watching shite for 3 seasons.
