W 2-1 vs Oldham Athletic (H) - League Two - Tue 15th March, 7:45pm

Are the Claw family making an appearance at Arrygut?

No I think all tickets are sold.

Home end - print an e-ticket I think

Was having this discussion on the way out the ground last night. I know that Sutton would have had further to come than Oldham but their journey was on a Saturday, when traffic likely to be a lot quieter than a Tuesday night and they have the benefit of flying high.

The last two games have really left me feeling good coming out of the ground and into the next day. I thought we played half decent last night and gives me a lot of hope moving forward.

I keep coming back to Maik Taylor. His two main charges here have been Roberts and Rushworth. Both very promising yet raw material. Roberts by all accounts has progressed more in his one season at Northampton than he did in half a dozen with us. Whilst if I’m being kind I’d say Rushworth has stood still. If I was being unkind I’d say he has regressed.

Coincidence or coaching?

You’re not being unkind although it feels like a confidence thing. I remember that 1st game against Tranmere at the start of the season and he was bordering on arrogant (with the way he bossed the 18 yard box). Lost his way a bit

They are. Awesome support as ever. Your son could always try to sell his body outside for a ticket. On 2nd thoughts that is unlikely to work, just get Tommy to charge the gate

He looks bored with it all to me. He can barely lift his hands to clap the fans anymore, pretty much the same when it comes to saving shots.

Totally agree with the likes of Salford, Stevenage, Crawley, Harrogate or even Burton. None of these teams have much of a following. Barrow I will leave out of this group as they were always a league team when I was younger. I think that they and FGR will mature into something more than they are now, facilities and fanbase, if they stay in the league for any length of time. I would like to see the back of Stevenage this season and hope that the Latics stay up.

Harrogate sold out.

For the away end - not sold out the home end yet (and you can buy e-tickets online; have to supply an address but don’t think these are validated).

They have slightly more fans than Salford, they only got 2800 when Bradford went there. Bradford could have sold that on their own

Its less than ten years since Harrogate Town were getting around 200 for home league games in the NLN. And often less than that. I used to wonder how they survived at that level with that support.

I don’t think thats unkind to say he’s regressed and I don’t think looking at the coach is unreasonable.

Rushworth is clearly talented but he’s looked less confident under the high ball as each week progresses, including last night when he nearly dropped one at the feet of the attackers, and did the same on Saturday. It’s interesting you mention Roberts, who was also terribly uncertain under any cross or high ball into the box despite clearly being a talented shot stopper.

And the thing with Roberts were that his weaknesses as he left were the same weaknesses he had when he broke into the side round about 2015/16. Reading the long cross and kicking were his seemingly unsolvable problems. Either he couldn’t learn or he wasn’t being taught (well). Rave reviews from Northampton suggest James Elgar has got to grips with those weaknesses which to an onlooker always seemed eminently coachable.

I’m not sniping at all and as much as I love the Saddlers I had bigger fish to fry yesterday. I ensured my ticket didn’t go to waste. It was Everton Andy who described the audience as small, but he also was very complimentary at the support those in attendance gave.

Personal insults are unacceptable, I am not criticising our supporters, I am passing on what was said by Everton Andy. He also said those in attendance got behind the team and was very complimentary about the level of support from those who were there.

I agree with what you are saying but in fairness to the incident last night, Rushworth caught the ball cleanly enough but his right arm was dislodged off the ball in contact by one of his own defenders. Bit unlucky…

Sorry I thought it was obvious I was on about the away support mate should have made myself a bit clearer.

Got that mate, I was just pointing out that if there is anyone without a ticket who is desperate to go then there is a way.
