Yeah proper lucky manager Sadler
It’s a great 3 points and means that with six games to go we’re still in with a shout of a play off place, which hasn’t happened since 15/16!
I can think of many a recent Walsall team that having lost 5-0 would have completely chucked the towel in and given up. Especially against a Salford side who were well up for it and are clearly a better side than what the table shows. I wouldn’t be surprised if Robinson has them challenging next season.
The fact that we kept going and were able to ‘find a way’ is a testament to the players and the coaching staff. If we can remain in striking distance of the play-offs for those three home games in a week, then we’ll be in with a chance. UTS
Faal very unlucky from what I could see with two fouls given against him in the box when their centre half seemed to throw himself to the floor.
Strange considering Jamma couldn’t get a decision despite the shirt pulling and man handling.
Stirk made big difference. Made himself available and passed well . Tierney was chasing shadows . . . slowly
He was brilliant especially considering he was our entire midfield until Stirk came on.
I agree about Tierney. I don’t know why Sadler doesn’t try Oteh in midfield: he could be a good running option. Alternatively, Oteh could play right wing back. And FFS, bring DJ on before DJT - what exactly did they teach Sadler at coaching college?!!
That absolutely wasn’t the case. One in particularly was an extremely stupid foul where he shoved their player full on in the back while we had the ball out wide, or were battling for it at least.
Can’t deny the goals a good one, but he gave away numerous silly fouls and bad touches too.
Fair enough. As I say from my angle couldn’t see too much wrong. I stand (sit) corrected
That’s good post Dornansong.
An iffy performance with none of the intensity we have seen recently. Light in midfield, Hutch was missing Earing. I too thought that Stirk made a difference when he came on. Really pleased for Faal. No one should be booed as he takes the field, even if it’s the manger who is the real target.
Anyway - back to winning ways and a massed following to Tranmere.
I can’t believe how poor Hutch has been recently. Once again he found himself in some great positions and just wasted it every time. Comley was great but you can’t play both Tierney and Hutch it has to be one or the other.
How did we win that ?
Doesn’t matter thou, 3 points is 3 points.
To the bloke in the middle tier slagging Faal off and telling the ref to send him off as he would be “doing us a favour” I bet you felt silly when he bagged the winner
Sadler got out of jail today because if that score stayed 1-1 fans would have been angry with him not getting DJ on a lot earlier.
The non pass to Foulkes was so frustrating. The amount of times he does that is ridiculous. How can you be capable of the passing range he has, but not know that’s the best option when you have two players on you, and free man outside.
Stirk definitely made a difference second half. We controlled them far better and Stirk was winning the ball in their half.
Actually thought Hutch did ok. He won a few tackles unusually and found some lovely pockets of space second half.
Back 5 did well all game in the main especially when they were getting little protection first half when we couldn’t string 2 passes together to keep Salford off us. Matt was struggling to drop in and help defensively on their deep midfielder which caused problems.
Not much quality but a gutsy second half considering Friday’s horror show and conceding the equaliser.
Not only glad for the three points, but glad we beat these whinging, moaning, overly physical, arrogant, entitled wanabe’s.
Today proves that stirk although not brilliant is 100% better than Tierney who is absolutely useless. Did he touch the ball
Really poor performance, again!
Inexplicable substitutions decisions from Sadler again!
I am a realist and accept that DJ has not been on his game this season BUT I feel sorry for the guy as the way Sadler has handled him is nothing short of appalling. DJT will never be the answer but he keeps on persisting and risking results because of his own ego.
My hope was we were still in the hunt after the Easter weekend and we are so let’s push on to Tranmere with another good following but this time hoping the team will show up … COYS
I still prefer butter .
Is that the first team we’ve done the double on this season?
I must say, I’ve always rolled my eyes at the people who get in a rage about Salford (or Wrexham) and their spending. I’ve always felt a bit “welcome to how the world works” about it.
However, I’d happily see them out of this division up or down now. Couple of times now we’ve done friend for a fiver or offers against them and I know it’s because they happen to have fell on bank holidays or international weeks, but I also think part of it is they know the crowd is going to take a sizeable hit because they are going to bring sod all with no atmosphere. A boring soulless club, however they got to where they are.
He was mate can’t tell some though he’s been like it for a long time now
