It adds interest to the next few weeks that making the playoffs is a possibility although I think it would take something special from the team to make it a reality, given our inconsistency I can’t see it happening. Assuming it happened and we were promoted we would need to spend some serious money to stay there.
I don’t see it happening this season cos we just aren’t good enough.
Still, I’m not going to worry about what comes in league 1 should we ever make it. Promotions last in the memory forever, I would love to be risking my life claiming sister dora to put the scarf on and have a 3 day hangover. Probably wouldn’t have the hangover this time around actually, but would love my kids to experience a promotion, they deserve it the way they have stuck with it when all their muckas, dingles, or fake Man City fans take the piss. I have always said to them, their day will come and when it does it will be like nothing their mates could ever understand. Bring it on, sooner the better.
To be fair this fixture date was one I carved into my stone tablet in readiness. ( The apple tablet battery is buggered so went back to reliable methods.)
ffs … you’re killing me
Post of the year so far for me, KC is just a brilliant anecdote for the winter blues with some of his posts, long may they continue
2-2. A rollercoaster.
From “we’re only x points off the playoffs” to “e’s gorra gew” in a matter of minutes.
Liam Gordon with one of the goals.
After listening to Kind crod .ive put a bit of Bette Midler on “Wind Beneath My Wings”
I was lolling after reading the first sentence
We aren’t good enough because we are too inconsistent at the moment the squad is capable they’ve shown it in a handful of games against the better sides but they are just as likely to collapse against a team below us they have that in them as well.
Not moaning as such but we really need to spend on some players in the summer the finances are much greater in this division than when we have got out of it before you need to have a very good manager to do it without a good budget. What we’ve done in January is ok but it doesn’t scream going for it this season.
A fit, injury free squad would also aid results and consistency.Last 5 or so seasons its agfdcted us.
Our starting line-up on Saturday compared to when we played them for the first game of the season has changed quite a bit - only 4 survivors! I think only 3 have changed for them? and we only lost to an injury time winner at their gaff… I fancy us to take them by the same scoreline 2-1, with us conceding the first lol!
Heavy rain forecast from 1pm onwards, will affect the quality of the game if it even goes ahead. Scrappy 2-0 to the Saddlers.
Sadler still has to convince the majority of our support of his ability to produce any sort of consistency from what is quite a reasonable squad of players, we ‘should’ be doing better than we are, now, our inability to score goals (once again) will come back to haunt us as we tumble back into lower mid table mediocrity.
So come on Mr. Sadler (please don’t include Riley in the squad) lets start to prove a winging old git like me wrong with a win tonight?
Does anyone have our Tuesday night record at hand ? Sat in the last 5 years ? Last 20 games?
I’m curious if it’s as bad as we perceive.
Best squad we’ve had in years. Shame we have such a poor tactically incompetent manager
I’ve got an old table from the last time we won a tuesday night away game which would be Port Vale away under Matt Taylor. This is in all competitions on tuesday nights, havent checked for inaccuracies but can’t imagine it’s far away
Since summer 2021 in the league: P24 W5 D10 L9
We are unbeaten in or last 8 at home but 6 of those have been draws.
Away from home it is truly dreadful as we’ve only picked up 2 points in the last 10 since we beat Port Vale.
Make no mistake Morecambe are a very good team at this level and have recorded some very good recent results. Beating Mk Dons and Crawley 2-1 away (coming from behind both times) and Doncaster 5-0! also away.
Without patronising them they appear the archetypal well organised League 2. They appear to be full of effort, energy and running and dangerous from set pieces. However I dont think we should be scared of them. I think we have better footballers and should try and pass through them, so I would play Earring and Hutch in midfield
They appear to play 4-2-3-1 so if we play 3 at back that will leave 2 spare defenders ( and us with players short elsewhere on the pitch). Because of this I would go 4-1-4-1.
I would give Foulkes a game at right back for more experience and I like his attacking output, but wouldnt mind if Okabgue plays there as he is probably stronger and better defensively. i understand Riley is also an option at right back tonight.
I would play stirk on the left of midfield, though I was struggling to decide who should play here. Perhaps hutch should revert to playing on the left.
I would play Smith instead of Evans. I would start with Faal up front, but wouldnt mind if Gordon or DJt played there.
Smith
Foulkes/Okabague
DD
Farq
Gordon (L)
Comley
Knowles
Hutch
Earring
Stirk
Faal/Gordon (J) /DJT
I think we are the better team, but if we are lazy we will lose.
Assuming we put in a shift 2-1 Walsall.
You got the day right.
Would like the game today to be postponed based on it being a little wet chilly windy and I want a hot bath
