W 3-1 vs Mansfield Town (H) - League Two - Sat 11th Sept, 3pm

Completely disagree with the midfield point some are making. As I pointed out before this game. Mansfield had their two best midfielders missing who are up there in this league and it showed. It was critical. It’s not as cut and dry as just playing one holding man from our perspective. No chance. It worked today however, to great effect.

You could argue so did we. Plus Wilkinson and Rollin. Arguably all 4 would have played had they been fit

No I agree but it’s not as clear cut as this masterclass in tactics some think they’ve found out and Matt Taylor has just cottoned onto today.

George Miller has scored more home goals this season in 46 minutes (2), than Caolan Lavery and Josh Gordon did combined in 23 league games last season (1)

Have either of them scored this season @Bags10 ?

It may not be a masterclass but any rookie manager who manages to outwit/out think/ out perform a Nigel Clough side deserves great credit.

Lavery 0 in 5, Gordon 1 in 10.

I agree @Natalie-Drest but it’s not what I’m getting at. It doesn’t matter.

They played there own version with the fat fan that invaded the pitch when they scored.

Tbf they did say they were going on the pitch if they scored. They left their man behind.

He’s a poor manager for me just gets by on his name he’s a shadow of the manager his old man was.

Heard Mansfield had a run in with Milwall on there way home tonight this after Milwall had been smashed to bits after trying to cause trouble by the Albion lot cant stand Millwall always looking for it serves them right

First time in seemingly ages that I’ve enjoyed a home game.

I don’t really know whether we were too good, or that they weren’t good enough, so it’s difficult to assess our prospects on that one performance.

Every player had a decent game, with a few stand-out performances. We have finally got a consistent, reliable corner taker, which makes a huge difference to our prospects.

The formation and the personnel in that formation, worked well and provided a fluidity which Mansfield found difficult to combat.

Let’s hope that this is a sign of things to come.

Really really exciting game that was!

Tried to play proper football which pulled them towards us and then the balls in the channels caused all sorts of problems and scored from two long through balls and nearly scored from 2 more! Weren’t just hoof balls either really well worked imo.

Made a huge difference having Miller up top as we looked so much more dangerous with his movement and determination.
Liked earring next to kinsella, seemed to help us with the flow of the ball
Does help their defence was the worst so far this season

And could people please stop being unpleasant about Kiernan. Rarely wastes a ball, moves it quickly and links the play well. Thought he was brilliant in the 10 role

When was the last time a Walsall striker had 4 shots on target in 1 match? Well done George Miller.

Moving through the gears ay we

Very pleased with gorgeous George

At last an intelligent forward that sits on the shoulder of the defenders instead of in front of them

And shoots early before the Keeper can close down

Very David Kelly esque

Any way back to land and glory
