W 3-1 vs Mansfield Town (H) - League Two - Sat 11th Sept, 3pm

That is what the 2 Millwall fans said to me about Walsall while i was locked up with em in green lane cells :joy:

Watching the highlights back and watching him for the last few weeks, how good is Jack Earing?

Assist for Taylor, ball over the top for Miller’s second, goal last week at Bradford, assist against Stevenage.

He’s definitely the ‘replacement’ for Holden we are after and someone we lacked last season, real talent.

I was born in Whitby Close, on the Mossley. Lived there till I was 5 and then moved to John Street, not far from Walsall town centre, and then Burrowes Street.

When we win we don’t get many postings on the match thread. Disappointing :joy:

It’s also a home game so less posts anyway.

But yeah. :joy:

Nothing to moan about when we win

The referee was decent today. Makes a change.

He was consistent which makes a change. He allowed plenty of contact and pushing by both sides. It is rare I write this but well done referee.

Referee went unnoticed for the most part. He was pissing himself when the lino fell over too :joy:

Expressed this point this to my son at the game this afternoon. Certain posters are conspicuous by their absence when we win.

I don’t know who you could possibly be referring to :innocent:

Great result and great to hear how Kinsella played.

Interestingly, whilst at Bradford last week, I thought that Labadie and Kinsella just didn’t work together and seemed to concede so much space in the middle of the pitch. Labadie seemed to be chasing lost causes a lot of the time and couldn’t get near the ball (is he properly fit?) and Kinsella was just anonymous, maybe not really knowing his role. We certainly didn’t have anyone in midfield grabbing the game at all.
Then, Labadie got sent off, it seemed to free Kinsella up and he was much more of a presence in the second half and played that holding midfield role well.

And it sounds like he has been immense today, playing that role fantastically and allowing Earing to be the more creative centre mid. Begs the question what Matt Taylor does when Labadie completes his 3 match ban - does he leave him out, as form would suggest? Seems unlikely when he has been a main signing this summer and is captain too. Interesting!

I was too busy out getting pissed :man_shrugging:

Kinsella has been outstanding in majority of the games so far. Not just this season, at this level. But it’s nice to see people realise it now. He did the running of two men today.

To be honest … I haven’t been impressed with Labadie and wouldn’t mind seeing him on the bench. Seems slow and made of glass, a little Sinclair like dare I say.

Labadie should not start when he is back. Simply because he doesn’t deserve to

When we have a full team fit by January how does this look?

Rusworth
White monthe Mayo ward
Earring kinsella
Wilkinson Holden kiernan
Miller

That should cause every team in this league problems

Enjoyed that today, can’t remember when I last said that.

Points that are in my head -
Closing down was fantastic, didn’t give em a minute
Loved the wide men working hard to track back
Miller was great, actually looks like a striker
Why on earth would they let Mayonnaise go on loan but want that number 5
Nice midfield pairing who compliment each other

The main plus point for me was that we found a weakness in their defence (there were plenty of them) and we looked to exploit it every time. Time and again the long ball into the channel caused them issues with Miller’s willingness to make the runs at the right time. I can’t remember him being flagged offside which is impressive for someone who looks to play on the shoulder. Simeon Jackson take note!

Kiernan showed another string to his bow by playing in the number 10 role. Again he had a willingness to drop back and help out the midfield when needed and was a consistent threat going forward, likewise Shade.

Given we were 3-0 up it would be easy to overlook Rushworth but he was brilliant again, pulling off saves at really key times in the game. If he’s not the best keeper in the league then I’d like to see who he is. His distribution is first class too, one ball he played in the first half was as good as anything else seen on the pitch

Proper performance yesterday. I thought we stood up well to the physical challenge that Hawkins provided, whilst also recognising the clear weakness in Mansfield’s defence and just going for it time and time again.

Miller was brilliant, like a lower league Jamie Vardy in the way he pressed the centre backs and finished opportunities with such calmness. Kinsella once again was fantastic, I’m yet to see a better ball winning midfielder than him in this league.

Good atmosphere aswell, always helped by a sizeable and noisy way following of course, but I thought the players fed off it in the second half and it could have quite easily been 4 or 5-1.
