Credit to whoever’s idea this is. It’s working and DD is a good enough footballer to exploit the space that’s being created
Walsall 3-1 Wrexham
UTS
FairPlay it looked off watching live
He played that style of football against crewe on Saturday Gordon and Knowles got forward more than in any other game because Daniels and mcentee were pushing them up the pitch and it’s worked tonight absolutely brilliant
Sheff Utd went up 2 divisions doing the same thing under Wilder. Adds a whole new dimension when going forward. Notice Newcastle do it a lot too.
Sadlerball
Watched it while working, one eye on dancefloor one eye on the game. I thought someone had slipped something in my drink dominating an under par Crewe is one thing, but that was something else tonight.
Encouraging stuff
A superb win. Some really great performances and I’ll give special mention to Gordon, Priest, Daniels, Comley, Hutch, Earing. But everyone performed well.
A couple of very important points to note;
-
the win owed very much to Sadler’s astute tactical awareness. First half, Matt was assigned to make sure their midfield playmaker number 20 wasn’t allowed to receive the ball. He did it superbly. Then, for anyone questioning why DJT came on instead of DJ, it was precisely because Sadler could trust DJT to do the same job on 20 in the second half and, again, he did it superbly.
-
people talk about us having no strength in depth…that last goal owed everything to DJT, Okagbue and Allen, 3 players who wouldn’t normally make the first eleven.
I know I like to have a dig at him but has anyone checked on Gensanx ?
Their keyboard has been accidentally smashed…
Just got back , A great all round team performance, Can’t fault our battling spirt tonight, Maybe Mat Sadler is starting to get a tune out of this team,And a good many who doubted him (inc me was wrong). We will see
Trying to take the Disney FC following out of my thinking - but this was a team that beat us convincingly earlier in the season.
Tonight we comprehensively schooled them. I suspect they’re getting worn down by being the team most teams really want to beat - but nevertheless that was easily the best performance under Sadler, and probably tops anything Flynn produced.
Wrexham fans will moan, but I think we were the better team all over the field tonight - we created more; we weathered periods of pressure; we took chances; and we weren’t gifted a dubious penalty.
I can’t believe I’m writing this after having frozen my man-testicles off at Alfreton watching us play dour, un inventive and negative football against a non league side - but here we are and credit where credit is due.
The players that are making the difference at the moment are Farq and Comley - I’ll explain why. Farq takes a lot of pressure off Daniels, who now can play a more talismanic role, popping in to midfield when a gap opens up confident in the knowledge Farq has the pace and strength to deal with anything if it goes wrong.
Comley is allowing the other 2 central midfielders to get forward because he reads the game well and is calm in possession. He’s the closest we’ve had to Adam Chambers since Adam Chambers.
Hutch deservedly got man of the match for his all round performance and goal - Wrexham couldn’t handle him and he’s probably the most likely to get snaffled by a higher club in Jan, but he’s only able to do this cos of the likes of Comley and Farq who give us that defensive control we need.
I don’t think there was a walsall player out there tonight who id score less than a 7.5, and it’s probably a year since we’ve been able to say that - Stockport away in the cup last Jan I reckon.
Probably troĺling on a Wrexham site.
Wow just wow
Been traveling all day phone went dead so went out without it and just got in
This along with the notts County result has got to be the result of the season so far well done Walsall and welcome back to the race😁
Absolutely fantastic
One of the best games I’ve watched at the Bescot in years - better than Preston in the tin pot cup.
Credit to Sadler - credit to those fantastic lads. What a performance.
Loved it - up the saddlers!!!
Anyone else feel draper was saying Goodbye at the end?
He can move on and back to his club with respect and love from us surely
Didn’t see any of this via ifollow as camera is just centred at the end - what did he do?
