Anyone else feel like we get a lack of Saturday home games?
If we get an away draw in the FA Cup, it means our next Saturday home game isn’t for another four weeks and then since beating Colchester on the 2nd September, we would have had just two Saturday home games in ten weeks
The fixture list is crazy. Very few Saturday home games before Christmas but a lot after. This business of 2 away games together also means we are playing a form of catch up.
It was a lot better when a man with a quill pen sat in Lytham writing out the fixtures by hand …one at home . One away all season except once
Especially when our away form is terrible compared to our home form which is pretty good, maybe the automatic promotion push starts after Christmas then?
Good preview. Interesting to see the other side of it.
Have a feeling it’s going to need a Stockport style performance get anything out of this game. Get out the blocks slow again and lose an early goal it could be another battering.
Let’s hope we’re actually ready to play this week, from the whistle.
Did I or do you think I may have making a joke of the fixture situation he was explaining and the fact many are blaming Sadler for everything except Gaza?
As usual his comments were taken out of context. I have seen the interview now and immediately after commenting on Gillingham he goes on to say…“but it is about us and what we do”. etc .As you indicated typical Manager"speak" before a game so there is no need for anyone to stay away because of his interview
Come on, you know full well that there is a middle ground between the simpering defeatism of lauding Gillingham’s “reputation” and the over-reaching cockiness of “we’re better and bigger…”
Firstly I do t think he’s gone overboard about Gillingham’s capabilities at all and secondly I honestly think every manager on the planet talks favourably about his next opponents 1) out of showing some respect and 2) to avoid the growing numbers of people and media outlets that can’t wait to bite you on your @rse the second you allow it.
At the moment people just want to criticise literally anything they can. There’ll be enough to criticise if we lose and/or play poorly at the weekend, over analysing a managers pre / post match interview to this degree is another level.
Not content to be football experts, fans now also fancy their chances at being experts in psychology, body language and reading between the lines
Perhaps Mat has learnt from the criticism of underestimating opponents ie Sutton .to overestimating them Gillingham .poor sod dammed if he does dammed if he don’t
In European matches, Bill Shankly always told his players the opposition was useless but if they beat them, he told the players they had beaten one of the best teams in the world.
Anyone who has managed any people will know that you get the best results by making them care enough to win. If you complain at them all the time, they just get demotivated. This is one reason I hope the players do not read UTS.
