I agree. Even better than that long haired bloke we had earlier on.
Interesting that Flint, with all his experience, didn’t play to the whistle. Even the best make mistakes.
Apologies but haven’t read everyone else’s comments yet. Just back - M6 like a river.
Anyway - delighted with the win. And delighted we bagged four goals. Not just four goals but four differently brilliant goals. Evan Weir - foot like a traction engine, goal-a-game Kanu - what a finish.
But oddly, I never felt we were ever in control. Even at 3-1. I thought they knocked it around better than us and at 1-1 they looked by far the better side. I think that wonder strike just on half time must have deflated them somewhat.
Pressley looked a bit off it today but I share his frustration around us getting into good wide positions and then delaying a cross to the point the cross never comes in.
All of our starting midfielders are very functional but non have that wee spark of creative magic. I hope Jellis or Clarke get a start next week because I think they can unlock even more goals for the front two.
Pleasing day (apart from the journey home) and credit to Sadler and team for what is now a very solid start to the season. Nowhere near the finished article but it’s going better than I could have imagined.
Yeah this winds me up to be honest when they take too many touches out wide, but often we want an early ball in but they haven’t made it into the box yet either. Pressley was plodding about today in fairness struggled to get himself in there. Thats the problem when you want the big lad to win the header to set up the attack in the first place. We seem to better on the counter through the middle half the time, especially with Clarke. Love that guy, hes gonna be some player.
As somebody who lives in London and doesn’t get to as many home matches as I’d like, the videos from today - particularly Kanu’s goal and Albert’s antics after the match - leaves me feeling gutted and slightly jealous, but makes me look forward to my next trip to the Bescot even more. UTS
Good points.it was apparent today as it has been in other games that at times the gap between the front two and he midfield is too wide. Pressley won a number of headers which would have fallen to a more advanced midfield. Jellis when he is back might help with this but more work on the train ground is needed unless, of course , we decide to give Maher and Holman games. The next Vertu trophy games may help with this conundrum.
Yeah i agree i think you only need one of Warrington or Finnegan they dont seem like “box to box” types to me but maybe it will come in time. I wasn’t knocking Pressley per se, dont think he was great today but we are asking him to be the focal point so its difficult for him then to get in the box when Vinny or Barrett has it out wide.
The gap is a big issue when we have gone full contain mode, thats where Clarke comes in really, his pace is so effective, and he can play a bit. We would never have got out our own half before he came on.
Agree on Clarke .I was a bit surprised we didn’t see the lad from PV today.Fro what I have read he could do that job too.
Yeah same , but to be fair i think Sadler wants to get him involved(judging by his after game comments) just needs to find a role for him.

What’s that Skip? You’re a bit fatigued after the start to the season, so you’ll be keeping it brief.
Won at home again, 1pt better off than last year, having drawn with Fleetwood this time round.
That’ll be the extra point we needed last time then.
Excellent and as cute as a boxing animal can be….
I don’t think any of us will ever forget last season, it was so traumatic. But: we have recruited some good players to replace the 5 or 6 good players we lost. The jury is out on whether Warrington is a good replacement for Stirk and Kanu is not quite as good as Lowe. But Flint is better than Okagbue and McEntee and Harper is as least as good as Liam Gordon. Burke is a good player but still very raw and Elvis needs to start delivering goals. We are a decent side but much will depend on what happens in January! UTS
Am I the only one that does not like his celebrations?
Reason, Albert scoring then dancing at Cheltenham to only go and massively foook it up. Let’s start these celebrations when we are 15 points clear with 4 games to go this time.
Sorry for being a grumpy bum.
Have to applaud him for allowing Tranmere advantage with the lino waving like mad for a foul before their 1st goal.
He was very good. A rarity now unfortunately.
Happy with the 3 points, not a really convincing performance but it was a typical Walsall type performance, we don’t seem to need lots of possession to be a very difficult team to play against.
One really bad thing in my opinion from today, there were a few “ fans" booing Jamma when he came on, obviously Jamma is struggling now but he definitely doesn’t deserve that.
Strange performance today.. dont think we were great but we were clinical, not sure what to make of roberts tbh.. I would give hornby a go.. also think burke really struggled today, good call by sadler replacing him.. unsure on warrington also, pressley is also woeful with his feet, pleased with the impact the “finishers” made also, great start to the season but I still feel like this team hasn’t clicked yet which seems strange to say
I’ve said it before aswell but I’ll say it again. The players we sign now want to do well. They give us everything.
I’ve watched walsall for 23 years. We have had plenty of squads here for a paycheck and it matters nothing. It might be obvious but i feel there’s been a shift in this aspect in recent years. Long may it continue.
Noticed the attendance was 6,010, also, the MK dons v Accrington attendance today, was also exactly 6,010? (According to BBC), When has that ever happened? (Or maybe I just need to get out more!)
Was the booing from our fans? I assumed it was Tranmere, presumably after one of their players was banned for 13 games after he admitted to using homophobic language towards Jamma last time we played them
Not unless they were sitting in the upper
