W 4-2 vs Tranmere Rovers (H) – Sat 20th Sept, 3.00pm (League Two)

I made exactly the same point earlier - never seen it before…

Today was a really tricky game for us and we did well to navigate to a victory. Burke, Flint and Pressley all had really tough afternoons, but it shows the togetherness within the squad to all pull together and find a way

It’s really frustrating at times to see us just sat in. I get it if we’re under the cosh at the end of a half but not long after we scored we seemed to be camped on the edge of our own box. As a tactic I’m comfortable with it if there’s a plan to catch the opposition on the counter but in the first half it didn’t seem that way. The second half was completely different and we looked really dangerous whenever we nicked the ball as Kanu became more of an outlet

I’m not sure in the midfield set up either. Warrington clearly isn’t a blockbuster sort of player, more of a steady eddy, which is fine. His positioning seems to be slightly off to me, again especially in the first half when we hardly won any second balls in the middle. We looked much more assured and in control when Comley came on so credit to Sadler for recognising and acting on it

We’ve got a really good, hardworking group of players, I just think that we’re lacking that one player who can really make a difference at key moments further up the pitch to turn us into playoff certs (as a minimum). Kanu could become that player, as could Richards or Jellis if he rediscovers his form. It’s the Wow factor that’ll set us apart

Reading this back it sounds quite doom and gloom, but I’m really pleased with how well we’ve started and the signs are definitely there that we could have a really good go again this season

Ridiculous if that’s the case then

I thought the fans were shouting Kanuuuu, as he was going off not booing Matt coming on

Really?! I only heard an excellent reception. Applause (some standing) and chants of Jamma.

Great result, and good to see we can score more than one, especially when we let them score 2. Well done the lads and Mat.

Unfortunately yes , it was only a couple, not youngsters either.

No big deal really, just found it a bit annoying.

Was it not the fans saying Kannnnuuu as he was going off, definitely did not hear any booing myself just a kannuuuuuu

Whilst I know it is a very low bar, he’s the best ref I’ve seen at this level for at last 2 years

I was sat in the upper and unfortunately there were a few boos when Matt came on.

don’t think I’ve changed my mind seeing the replay

Had a look first, didn’t even try to disguise it. I’m surprised that our players didn’t make more of a fuss tbh.

About as blatant as you can get that. Wasn’t even challenging for the ball, as you said, took a look to get his range for the elbow. Disgraceful.

It wouldn’t help us now, not that we needed it, but that should be a retrospective ban, if that is still a thing.

I’m pretty sure they can’t, if the ref has already taken action (yellow card). Used to be the case anyway

It happened in front of me.It should have been a red card but other than that I agree that the referee was better than most we have had except the lady at Barnet.

Off topic, I see our old mucka Flynn has got the boot at Cheltenham, wonder where he will turn up next, Newport? Shrewsbury?

good performance overall, For me still not convinced by Warrington I think Finnigan would be better in that role as thats where he has played most of his career and his still learning in that 8 role as he said in his interview in the week. Kanu I havent seen that ice cold finishing at the Bescot for a while, keep giving him chances and he will definately score week in week out. Also not overly convinced by Harper would like to see more of Okeke
