Walsall FC v Chelsea under 8’s EFL Trophy 3/12/2019

Yes according to Dutton it may be a hairline fracture. When he hobbled past us last night I feared it might be a serious injury to his knee which could have mean’t a season long absence.

All the other league 2 managers will be continually checking the official site to see whether CCM is recovering and will obviously be disappointed at the lack of news.

Hope it’s not too serious an injury.

Agree it’s very disappointing for CCM and the team , but it’s all part and parcel of being a sportsman could just as easily happened in training .
If it is a hair line fracture 4/6; weeks out .
We have Pring as cover he will have to step up .

What was the attendance last night, btw?

Saw 941 mentioned somewhere.

We’re in the last 16 now, and the vast majority of the 23’s are out, so hopefully becomes a bit more like what it is supposed to be from here on. The Southern half of the draw looks pretty tough though.

If it were in training there would have been a point, you train to build to a fixture.

This is a meaningless game played in a competition that serves one purpose, introducing youth teams to the football league.

It is not a meaningless game at all. Clarke certainly doesn’t think so otherwise he wouldn’t be fielding the teams he has selected.
It is an official EFL fixture. People may not like it but that’s what it is.

I’ve revised my opinion.
I think it’s a terrific competition.

Sorry that’s your opinion , I think you are totally incorrect , it’s not a meaningless competition for many reasons , if you were there last night I’m sure you would have seen that it was certainly not meaningless to either set of players .

That’s the good thing about UTS,it has the power, (with the to and fro of intelligent argument) to change people’s outlook on life, well done Timbuktu,I like a man who’s not afraid to admit when he’s wrong…:+1::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What you spending your millions on then??
Fantastic pick that was by the way fair play

The competition was worthwhile for the 6-0 win alone.
It started a better run of form and reinvigorated Josh Gordon.

Did you put the fiver on lol

Just because it’s an official fixture that doesn’t mean it’s not meaningless. The CWC is an official fixture. The Charity Shield, or whatever they call it these days, is an official fixture. They mean very little to the teams competing in them.

On our level, that’s what this tournament is. And I’d suggest Clarke has his priorities wrong if he’s willing to field string teams and risk picking up further injuries … exactly like we did.

A glorified reserve fixture wasn’t work losing CCM in my opinion but to each their own.

How did the 10,359 empty seats feel about it?

Is Rick Picking a new signing?

What a player Gilmour is. Be interesting to see how his career develops. Thought Bates gave him a game though when he came on although Gilmour had tired at this point.
